Bloody Brunch

One of my favorite activities during the weekend is to indulge in a yummy brunch with my friends. In the past, I always looked forward to the unlimited mimosas part of brunch, although they usually left me very disappointed. Why? The ratio of champagne to orange juice was unbalanced and left me with a sugar high and no buzz -_- 

But a few weeks ago, I decided to venture out of my mimosa comfort zone and try what always looked very unappealing to me- the Bloody Mary. And all I can say is wow. How have I never had these before? I love the tomato juice base, bold spices and of course, the fun garnishes. 

This weekend I brunched at my favorite spot in Chelsea, Cookshop, where the food and bloody's are always on point. I ordered the "Healthy Mary", made with vodka, house Bloody Mary mix, house-made kale puree and a tumeric salt rim. The cocktail was a deep green color garnished with olives, lime and celery and outlined with an orange rim made of tumeric. It was very refreshing, surprisingly spicy and left me feeling really good.
