Wendy's Frosty for breakfast, peanut butter cups in your coffee plus more news this week

This week is filled with sweet and salty news, with a side of some surprising collaborations.

Dessert for breakfast? Wendy’s is making it possible with a new cereal.

Kelloggs and Wendy’s have partnered up for a chocolaty cereal launch slated for December. The Wendy’s Frosty will now come in cereal form to a breakfast table in your home. The partnership will yield cocoa cereal bites with marshmallow pieces that mimic the taste of the iconic Wendy’s Frosty. The cereal will be available at all major retailers and will only be around for a limited time.

Dunkin Donuts is putting your favorite Halloween treat into a coffee drink.

Dunkin Donuts is introducing a Halloween inspired espresso drink. The Peanut Butter Macchiato is a blend of espresso and chocolate flavors which evoke America’s favorite Halloween treat -- the Peanut Butter Cup. The new coffee edition will also pair well with Dunkin Donuts Spider Donut which is coming back for the occasion, and that’s not all.  Dunkin Donut lovers may also be able to win prizes at https://www.dunkindoor.com/ by scanning a QR code. Lucky winners may score a Dunkin Donuts gift card they can use to purchase the Spider Donut or the Peanut Butter Macchiato or they may even be lucky enough to win $1000 (imagine how many donuts and coffees that would get you).

Slash the Salt

The Food and Drug Administration is working towards cutting down salt in the American diet by asking restaurants and food manufactures to reduce the amount of sodium in their menu items and food products over the next two and a half years.

Currently, the recommended daily intake of sodium is 2,300 mg, and on average Americans are consuming about 3,400 mg of sodium a day. WOW! The new recommendations aim to cut the average salt intake by 12% , to about 3,000 mg a day. Although this is still above the daily recommended amount, experts believe that this is a good first step in reducing in heart disease (American’s #1 killer) and high blood pressure among Americans.

Megan Thee (PopEyes) Stallion

Are you Megan Thee Stallion Fan? And are you also a Popeye’s fan? If yes, you are in luck. The female rapper recently collaborated with the fast food chain to create a new Spicy Sauce called “Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce”.

The limited release sauce, which will be available to order starting October 19th, is said to “match” Megan Thee Stallion personality, which in this case is a combination of “spicy and sweet”.

And there’s more! If you’re a Popeyes reward member, you can score an extra 100 points if you order the new sauce on the app or website.

That's all for this week! We'll see you next week.
